With the great success last weekend in helping Honey learn how to swim with the SwimWays vest, I was determined to get her back into the water again this weekend. I really think the key with her is going to be repetition. Each time she gets back in it is like she has to make sure she remembers so if we wait too long we have to start all over again.
We had intended on going to my mom’s on Saturday but the weather wasn’t great and after going to the movies to see Winnie the Pooh and then some shopping I was a little pooped. However we did manage to make it over Sunday afternoon for a little dip in the pool. Honey was very excited to put on her SwimWays vest to see if she still felt comfortable swimming.
After a little bit of patience and working with her to get her comfortable in the water she became a little fish. Once she found that she could swim the width of the pool there was nothing stopping her she pretty much knew that she could do it!

What a wonderful way to boost confidence. I’m so glad she could just focus on having fun and swimming and not worry about her safety. Yay!

Yes she has come so far in just the last two times in the pool! I love to see her having so much fun.

YAY for here. So happy she can learn to swim easier with those vests!! Also, as a parent, I’m sure it makes you feel more comfortable knowing she’s safe in the pool!!

What I love about the vest is it frees up her arms to actually move them like a swimmer should to start to learn that motion.

That’s great! I’ve never heard of that vest before. I was always a little fish when I was kid. Well, really I’m still one if you put me in some water!

What a great post, yes I believe that when a little one is first learning it is always better to go to pool frequently in order for them to stay comfortable. My 2 1/2 year old son, Devin is quite the little fish. He has always liked the pool since day one…but we noticed if we waited too long between visits to the pool the first 20-30 minutes he was very apprehensive adn trusting of no one but Mamma. Now that we go at least 3 times a week, he is comfortable being dunked, blowing bubbles, and floating. Now that he has his little arm floaties he his out there just a slaphin on his own in fact that is what he prefers. He is so independent.
