It has now been over three months since I first met and feel in love with my Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer. Even with a rocky start I still feel deeply and we make a great threesome. I mentioned a few months ago about my “dryer” issues, and how normal it is for me to have such issues. The dryer during the second week started making a very strange sound. It sounded almost like someone had left change in the dryer or there was a part that was rumbling around when in use.
Before I called anyone with my troubles I found the troubleshooting feature on the dryer. Once you select troubleshooting on the panel you will go through a series of questions to help you self diagnosis your problem. Unfortunately for me the dryer and I were not able to figure out the problem. It turns out I was close regarding the rumbling part. I called Whirlpool and they set up an appointment for a technician to come out and take a look. He said he thought the blower was installed too tight and he loosened it and said if it still had problems to call them back. (Them by the way is the third party repair service). I didn’t even think that it might be important to check it that day. When I did finally use the dryer again it turned out that was not the problem.
A technician came out the following week and said the problem was the blower was actually broken and he had to order the part. Do to my schedule I had to wait once again another week for it to be installed. Thankfully since the installation of the new part I haven’t run into anymore problems.
After a few months to help keep your washer for needing these troubleshooting steps a warning comes on to let you know that it is time to clean your washer. I really think with us leaving the door open when we are finished we already have a head start on keeping it clean however I like to go ahead and run a load with the affresh washer cleaner to help the washer stay clean and fresh. It is really simple you just throw in an affresh tablet and set the washer to the washer cleaning setting and the washer does the rest. It is great to know the washer is getting a good cleaning every couple of months.
One thing I don’t utilize enough is the different washing cycles. Smart temperature control helps reduce shrinking and color bleeding and the washer offers 14 specialty fabric care cycles. Keep your blacks black and your colors bright! Care control temperature management enabled by 6th Sense technology helps protect your clothes by controlling water amount and temperature. I really should take the time to learn more about each setting and use them appropriately.
If you asked if I would recommend the Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer after reviewing it for three months I would tell you MOST DEFINITELY. I really do love my washer and dryer. It has changed my entire experience with laundry. What use to take me days to get done I can get done now in one day. Not to mention I’ve now involved my kids in the laundry process and am working on teaching the boys how to do their owns.

Kinda stinky that you had to deal with repairs but thanks for the honest review. My friend and I have a laundry service from our homes. It seems that with the time and energy savings it would be great. Not to mention they are pretty 😉 These are definately on our wish list.
