As a family of technology users we love to try out the newest gadgets. Recently we were given the opportunity to review the Nextbook 8. Some time ago we had reviewed the Nextbook Premium 9. So I was interested to see if there were any improvements with the newest product line.
The Nextbook 8 is now even faster, smarter, and more affordable than ever before and comes equipped with new Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS letting you surf the net, play games, or stream videos smoother than ever! Its sleek compact design, new 7.85 inch color display, & Wi-Fi allows it to fits comfortably in your hands everywhere you go. Even better you can know personalize your Nextbook 8 with red, blue and silver limited edition that are now available at Walmart.
Google Play Store
One improvement I noticed immediately was the method in which you can purchase and download apps. There are thousands of apps available in the Google Play store for you to enjoy, from video games to your favorite social networks. I love that the Nextbook 8 is equipped with the Google Play store this makes finding and download popular apps easy. My son was able to download many of his favorite games like Bingo Blitz and Ca
Rear and Front Facing Camera
Another nice improvement over the Nextbook Premium 9 is the addition of the rear facing camera. Since most of your photos are done this way it was definitely a feature that was much needed. There is also a lot of features to edit your photos. You can add frames, use different filters, and even change the contrast. The photos aren’t camera quality but it is a fun feature to have and the kids enjoy it.
The Nextbook 8 is equipped with 8GB of memory but can support up to 64GB of memory with a Micro SD card. This is really nice. Just a few weekends ago I had to remove apps off of my other tablet so my son could download a movie because I didn’t have enough memory to support both. If I had the option to pop in a SD card I wouldn’t have had to remove the app. Definitely a plus!
Built in BookStore
It is preloaded with a Bookstore application NOOK® for Android™ by Barnes & Noble (USA Users) & Kobo(Canadian Users), which gives you the ability to buy eBooks directly online without the need of a computer connection. This is a nice features, especially if you love to read like I do.
I gave the Nextbook 8 to my youngest son (age 14) to let him use it and give us his thoughts. However like all the other tablets and smartphones in our home I purchased a case to keep the tablet safe. I had no problem finding an expensive case on Amazon and let my son pick out the color.
My son uses the Nextbook mainly to watch YouTube videos in the evening. He said it works as good as most tablets. It is a little slow starting up and once in a while the response time is a little slow. He did download the game Bingo Blitz which the whole family has been playing lately but found that it lagged a little. This is a very power hungry game and lots of graphics and moving parts and he said it was easier to play on Facebook or his phone than on the Nextbook. However for less intensive apps he had no problems. This is the trade off for an unbeatable price and overall a great buy!
