My husband and I have been married for over 15 years. In those 15 years one thing I’ve learned is that communication is one of the most important keys to a relationship. Showing your love in even the simplest ways is just as important. When I was scheduled to go to LA on a press trip before I left I left little sticky notes all around the house so even though I wasn’t there he would be reminded that I loved him. I left them on the bathroom mirror, in the refrigerator, and even in his dresser door. That trip was over 2 years ago, however when you open up my husbands door my sticky note is still there. (Recently my daughter noticed it and added a note of her own)
Often my husband and I will text during the day. Sometimes it is practical like “Are you picking up Honey”. Other times it is personal and fun, just something to let each other know we are thinking of each other. Sometimes I will buy a handful of cards with simple but loving notes and leave them in his car or hide them in his lunchbox. These are the little things that I think are important and make a person feel special. My husband’s birthday happens to be on a “special” day for most of the world. He was born December 31st. Most people enjoy the uniqueness of their birthday and it is a day that is usually about them, but hubby spends it with the world. So I try to go out of my way to send him a little extra love.
His birthday isn’t until the end of the month but that doesn’t mean I’m not thinking about him now. The holidays always bring out the best in people (well most of the time) and feeling quite loving I thought it would be fun to surprise him with a special holiday card just for him. Often between taking care of the kids, working, decorating, and shopping my husband gets lost in the busyness of the holidays. I wanted him to know that even when I’m busy and running errands I’m always thinking of him. I decided to try out a new online service and send him a card this year using Open Me. One of the unique things about this site is that not only can you customize your card but you can even have it printed and mailed to your recipient if you prefer a traditional snail mail delivery. Email delivery is free and printed cards can be as low as $2. The great thing is you won’t have to stand in the store reading card after card and bumping elbows with other card patrons (especially if you wait until the last minute) and no need to make sure you have a stamp.
Like I said I decided to send a birthday card so I skimmed through both the birthday cards and love cards to try to find the perfect one. I picked out 4 cards before I narrowed it down to the perfect one.
Custom Cards Open Me
It isn’t hard to find the perfect card, you have a large selection and can narrow it down by what type of card you are looking for such as holiday (narrowed down even further), friendship, encouragement, love, birthday, and thank you.
So I will be honest it took me all of 1 second to decide on which of the four cards I was going to choose. In fact when I first saw it I had to giggle, lets just say it is an inside joke. Customizing my card was super easy I choose my card and then I had the option to customize the inside. I had 5 slogans to choose from for the left side as well as a photo and my own note on the right side.
My Special Holiday Open Me Card
I even had the option to customize the back of my card and of course I had to take advantage of that as well. I included my signature phrase to my husband in closing as I do all letters, cards, or notes to him.
Once you have customized your card you have the option to send it digitally free via email or you can have it printed and mailed.
What is even better is you can schedule your delivery. I’m usually a last minute person and am always running late so this was definitely a plus for me. I originally decided to go ahead and schedule the card for delivery on my husband’s birthday.
After I previewed the card and was happy with how it turned out I went ahead and sent it to him so I could see his reaction. As I suspected when he read the front of the card he giggled just like I did. I’m absolutely loving how easy it was using Open Me to send a personalized card. Since I’m more of a send a card “just because” I anticipate using this site quite often in the future just to send a quick reminder of my love.
