My Easter holiday started Friday afternoon when I was fortunate enough to get out of work 2 hours early at 3:30. Of course the mother in me took that time to get some Easter shopping done for the children before picking up Honey a little early and heading home. The extra time work perfect for me with a full schedule Saturday.
I mentioned yesterday we spent the first part of our Saturday at the Barrett Jackson Auto Show, and for giggles and because I love it, I’m reposting my favorite photo from the day in case you missed it. This is the same picture I posted yesterday with a little Instagram help, to give it a nostalgic look, and added a perfect quote.
After our hours at the show we headed over to mom’s for a little Easter dinner. It was just my mom and my family, my sister always works on Easter, the unfortunate side effect of owning a restaurant. Before we sat down for dinner we did a little swimming. Yes I know those of you in 30-50 degree weather are staring at the screen with mouths hanging open thinking I’m crazy to mention swimming at a time like this. However I can assure you that here in South Florida it is swimming weather. I myself did not partake in the water but instead watched the hubs play with the kids dunking, racing, and playing a game called “toothpaste” of all things, and snapping a few photos here and there to remember the day.
What matters most in this world!
After our swim we headed back up to the house for a little Easter dinner: ham, homemade coleslaw (my favorite), scallop potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, and rolls. YUM YUM YUM! After dinner it was hard to stay awake, our bodies screamed to relax and doze. My husband did just that and I resisted the urge to snap a photo because if you ask him he never takes naps. While he was enjoying his stint on the sofa my mother, the kids, and I played LCR. If you have never played the game I highly recommend. It is great for all ages, and my daughter had a blast, probably because she won 75% of the games!
Between the auto show and Easter swim and dinner the day was a hit in my book. I always love a day that is packed full of family activities. Our Easter celebration ended with the usual visit from the Easter Bunny in the morning. With three baskets full of goodies and candies and a fun egg hunt around the house. This Easter was special like every holiday is with the Shibley Smiles!

What a fun and BUSY Easter weekend! So wish we could have taken a swim too. We got back from Florida vacation to find it cool and windy here, and swim weather is still a couple months away at least. Funny you should post about LCR. We played it while on vacation for the first time and E. Bunny left a game in each of the kids baskets…so they can take to friends houses to play. FUN!
Coleslaw recipe post sometime maybe this summer? I have never found JUST the right one and I do love it too. KFC used to be my standby but I think they changed the recipe. Homemade is always best!

Good idea on the recipe. I will have to get it form my mom. It is easy and different then most cole slaw just happens to me my favorite.
LCR is so easy yet so fun!

Sounds like you had a wonderful Easter! We play LCR often at the campground when it’s raining. I really like that first picture of the boys with their sister.
