Honey and I stepped back into a tradition that our family has had for many years. That tradition is attending a local parade put on by our schools and local vendors. The parade comes down the road we use to live on. So we use to get up early and walk our chairs down to save a spot. It was always entertaining to drive by (on a pretty busy road) and see all these folding chairs laying in the median or along the side of the road. Then when the parade was getting ready to start we would walk down to our spots for prime seating.
The parade consists of school bands, gymnist, cheerleaders, and local vendors. Usually with floats and holiday dressed cars. Everyone is throwing out candy and logo related items. It was always fun for the kids to grab all they could. However over 3 years ago we moved. We didn’t move to far from the parade location but a good one and a half miles. The first year the boys rode their bikes and a roller bladed down to the street. My ankles however were killing me so I called my husband to pick us up when it was done. There is just no point trying to drive down and find a parking spot it is a mad house. The next two years the boys really were not interested in going and Honey was still a little young.
This year she saw the signs for the parade and really wanted to go. So her and I got on our bikes (mine was an early Christmas present) and rode down just the two of us. We had a fun time and once Honey was settled in she had a great time. I took some photos and just thought I would share. I love traditions!
