To see my husband is a steak and potatoes man would not be an accurate statement. He is more of a steak and steak man. He can totally pass on the potatoes, rice, etc. I myself had never really cared for steak until I met my husband. I remember the first steak he made me in my tiny little one bedroom apartment and I had no idea steak could actually taste good. I believe my aversion to the meat was due to my stepfathers cooking preference. That would be bouncy off the floor overdone and tough.
This week my husband and I decided to try out the new Walmart USDA Choice Premium Beef. Each Sunday my husband and I do our weekly grocery shopping together. This weekend I made sure to pick up some steak.
The original plan was to have a steak off between my husband and my mother’s husband but they have not been feeling well and were unable to make it. So I had my own little grill off, while my husband was putting together some equipment. I decided to season the steaks in three different ways and have him taste them to tell me which one was the best.
Disclaimer: I’m not the best at cooking steaks
I through all three of the steaks on the grill and tried to keep an eye on them. Our grill is old and needs to be retired, only one side works and if you get the steaks too close to the middle they tend to burn.
The first steak had some garlic salt, the second a blend of seasonings, and the third (my personal favorite) had some Dale seasoning sauce on it. When they were all grilled (not quite to perfection because I have no idea what that is) I had my husband taste each one.
Turns out my husband and I have the same taste, as we do so often. He said he definitely preferred number three (the one with the Dale Seasoning Sauce to the other two.
Walmart is currently hosting a Steak-Over with some local firemen in different cities. It sounds like a blast!
Local firefighters from eight different cities will compete in the Walmart Steak-Over Challenge presented by Kingsford® Charcoal, Dr. Pepper® and A.1.® steak sauce to determine who has the best steak-grilling chops in town.
Walmart shoppers in each city will get a front row seat to the event, which will take place in the parking lot of their local Walmart store. Shoppers who attend will have the chance to join in the festivities, taste test Walmart USDA Choice Premium steaks, sample Dr. Pepper and A.1. steak sauce for free, and cast their vote for best steak.
The firefighter finalist from each city will compete on behalf of their station for a $20,000 grand prize in Los Angeles, the week of May 20
