The family and I decided to take one last summer vacation in honor of my son’s birthday this past weekend. As a Choice Hotels Ambassador we also had the chance to try out when of their many hotels. We decided to go to Orlando and enjoy the weekend at Wet n’ Wild, with all this hot weather in South Florida it seemed like a much better idea than walking around in the hot sun.
I spent a lot of time on the Choice Hotels site looking for the right hotel for our large family of five. The hardest part about traveling with five people is trying to find a place to stay that is big enough yet affordable. Looking through the many hotels I did find some really nice options that were priced at 500+. I’m sure the hotels were amazing but for a quick trip to Orlando that is a little pricey for us.
Trying to find the right hotel was actually easy and very organized on the Choice Hotels site. I was able to put in Wet n’ Wild as the attraction we were going to be going too so it could find a hotel close to my destination.
As you can see I was given a choice of 38 hotels and I can sort them distance, rate, and price. In addition I could place a filter on my search to narrow down to only the hotels that had what I needed.
So for the search I was conducting above I filtered by 4 stars and up and it had to have a pool and free breakfast. My search was immediately narrowed down to 15 hotels instead of 38. From there I just started to read each description and reviews to help me decide which hotel I wanted to stay at. This whole process was very helpful in trying to decide which hotel was going to be the best option. The photos were also great because while it may seem trivial I was looking for a hotel that had two TV’s. In the end I ended up going with the Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista because it was a little bigger than simply a hotel room.
Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista
We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 on Friday night so we were definitely ready to just get in and sleep. The room had everything we needed: two queen beds, a sofa pull out bed, TV’s in the bedroom and living area, and even a small kitchen. They also had a safe for you use at a charge of $2 a day. The furniture and carpet in the hotel in general was a little out dated but still functional. The breakfast was a full breakfast with eggs, sausage, cereals, breads and muffins, waffles, and juices. I was a little disappointed that they were missing pancakes and bacon but it was nice that breakfast was included at no additional charge.
The hotel as has amenities such as a small arcade, a soda/snack machine, pool and hot tub, free wi-fi, and free transportation (which can save you parking fees). We utilized the pool, soda/snack machine, and free wi-fi. The pool was nice the kids enjoyed a late night swim. The soda and snack machine was much cheaper than one would expect at only a $1.00 for a drink and $75 for snacks. I also used the free wi-fi but like most hotels it is a little slow and could only do some basic internet look ups.
The only complaint I would have is that the air conditioner was in the closet in the bedroom and was very loud when it turned on. So often during the middle of the night, as a light sleeper, I was woken up by this sound. I don’t know if this is in all the rooms or just in the room we were using. Overall the room was spacious and great for a family of five. With our family we need the extra space so we are not all on top of each other.

I always love the hotels with some kind of breakfast thrown in- besidess being thrifty, its a nice deal to get and if youre there until noon you have time to get ready without rushing out for breakfast.

It seems strange to have the air conditioner unit in the closet, but overall the suite looked very nice. You were able to get a good deal by using the Choice Hotels site.

We’ve always been happy staying at one of the Choice Hotels. When we came house hunting in Dallas before we moved here, we stayed at one for a week and it was plenty nice and very affordable.
