I mentioned a couple weeks ago that my husband and I were about to embark on the workout program P90X together. It has now been two weeks and two days, time for a check in.
My husband and I are going strong and we haven’t missed a beat, from how we are eating to our daily workout. We workout 6 days a week with one day for rest. We have chosen Friday as our rest day. Since beginning the program I have lost 4.4 lbs. For me as a whole this is low compared to what I usually lose when I’m dieting (alone). However I feel much better then I usually do. I know that the pounds this time are not going to be my measure of success. It has taken me a little time to get past that though I will admit.
I feel the eating plan is very well rounded with veggies, a little fruit, carb, and dairy and higher protein. Each Sunday I cook up quite a lot of meat from chicken and lean pork chops to lean steaks and burgers. My husband and I work out at 7pm each night after eating around 6pm. In order for us to follow this time frame our food needs to be ready to eat as soon as we get home. It takes me a couple hours but it is time well spent.
If you skimp on your food during the day trust me you are not going to get through your workout. In fact just yesterday my husband and I had to do our workout in the morning since we had plans in the afternoon. We just didn’t have the energy we usually do when doing it in the evening after eating all day.
Do not expect to be able to do everything all the time. There are days when I can get through the workout and other days when I struggle. You also need to take things in moderation. The first day is chest and back and I have chosen when they do push ups to do women’s push ups. In some areas I have to modify what I’m doing to continue to workout instead of giving up.
My husband has lost 5.5 lbs so far which is great. In the past he would eat well and workout and he may lose one week and none the next or even gain so it has been great to see the scale go down each week. Also he has been doing things he has never tried before like Yoga and a lot of lunges which is not his normal workout. Overall we are doing great and I have to say that half of my success is due to my partner. I really don’t think I would be able to motivate myself each day to workout and eat right if my hubby wasn’t right beside me all the way.
In two more weeks we will have finished Phase 1 and I’m hoping to post some photos and some measurement loses.
