Summer break often means lots of family fun times at home and on vacation. This year we didn’t spend too much time away from home. Our family vacation is schedule for September when we will be taking a cruise for my mom’s 60th birthday. We did however spend a Saturday at a local amusement park. My son recently got his first job which included some fun perks. The family and I packed up and headed to Lion Country Safari. Though we have been there before we always enjoy visiting again. Animals are one of my favorite things to photo so I brought my new Panasonic LUMIX G7 camera with me.
Lion Country Safari
I really wanted to be able to see the water behind my daughter so I went ahead and shot in 4K. The way the camera can really bring a photo to life is amazing. Instead of a blurry background you can see the water cascading down the waterfall and the green is as green as can be. The other great thing about the 4K feature of my Panasonic LUMIC G7 is that I don’t have to worry about capturing the perfect moment because the camera is recording it all at 30 frames per second.
I was excited about getting some great action shots of the kids in the water area going down the slides and enjoying a game of water wars (balloon toss fights) however mother nature had other plans. By the time we made it over to the water area it was shutting down due to lightening in the area. Instead we decided to do a little mining
Mining for Gems
I was hoping with this shot to get her surprise when she found her first gem. With the 4K feature it would have done just that if not for one tiny user error. My battery died and I have not purchased a back-up battery yet. I had it on my list to make sure it was fully charged before we left but it slipped my mind. So note to self pick up a back up battery for times like this. I do love how the photo turned out just right with a blurry background and a little bit of shadows to emulate the feeling of mining.
One of the things I love is taking photos of all the animals. I did get a few good photos before my battery died.
Due to the weather we left the park and enjoy the rest of the day at home. South Florida summer weather always bounces back after a rain shower so it wasn’t long before we could enjoy the outdoors again. Being nine years old my daughter spends a lot of time running, twirling, and tumbling outside. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to take more photos with my LUMIX G7 camera. I wanted some action shots so I again shot in the 4K mode and took some photos of my daughter jumping and tumbling.
Honey’s favorite photo was doing one of her favorite activities…doing a cartwheel!
We had a great day and enjoyed a fun family day at the themed park followed by a little bit of outdoors time at home. Thanks to my LUMIX G7 camera I got some great photos at the park. They turned out so much better than my iPhone and I loved taking my camera with me. It is light weight and the perfect camera to travel with it has superb DSLM image quality without the bulk and weight of traditional DSLRs. I’m saving up some Best Buy gift cards to purchase an additional lens so I can take a wide variety of photos.
To end the day and leave you with a little bit of South Florida my daughter noticed the beauty of the sunset so I stepped out on the back porch and snapped a photo!
