I love a good challenge and a good puzzle, even better to have them all in one. Perplexus distributed by Plasmart is all of this more wrapped up in a 8″ ball. I thought this would be a fun toy to review for the kids. I had no idea myself how addicting it can be. Great for ages 6 to 106 Perplexus has been dubbed by Parents Magazine as one of the 2010’s Top Toys. You can find Perplexus at a brand new store called The New Toy.
Thenewtoy.com is a totally unique toy buying experience. Rather then focusing on a wide selection thenewtoy.com features one new toy each week. and goes to great lengths to explain, through product-specific videos and high-resolution photos, why every toy is superior in quality and super fun. This is online customer service. The entire website is meant to make the customer feel comfortable, well-informed, and important as well as being extremely easy to navigate–the online equivalent of walking around a specialty toy store with a friendly knowledgeable sales person.
When our Perplexus arrived I was at work. So I told my mother in law she could go ahead and open the package and let Honey have a whack at it. Yeah it says 6 and up and my boys are so funny when they see something like that they tell Honey she can’t play because she is not old enough. Sometimes though that little four year old is as smart as them. So we let Honey have a try.
Honey is a puzzle girl, she has been doing puzzles since she was under two. Though this puzzle may be just a little out of her league she had a great time playing with it and joying in on the ohh’s and aww’s with everyone else.
Before the product even arrived I knew all about it and what it’s purpose was because I had already visited thenewtoy.com to scope it out. One great thing about their site is they have great photos, and videos to really help you as a customer get an idea of what you are purchasing before you plop down that dough for a new item. I also love the fact that The New Toy is owned by a small family-owned toy store. This is an innovative new website and I’m excited to help them promote it. Rather then stock a large assortment of toys they hand pick the toys to be featured each week never featuring more then 9 at a time. The key is the toys have to be of good quality and fun.
The Perplexus definitely meets both of these criteria. When I began researching the product before I accepted the review my first thought was that my oldest son would love it. He is my logical, brain teaser, loves to solve puzzles type of child. He has always been black or white and everything has it’s place. So much like his father and so unlike his mother. I was definitely right in my assessment. I believe his exact words where, “This is awesome!” See how hard he is concentrating to keep the ball on the tract so he doesn’t have to start all over. Whatever you do, do not talk to him while he is concentrating. YIKES!
We couldn’t leave Nick out and he got his shot too, not so much the puzzle person he still enjoyed giving it a try.
I even had my mother in law in on the action. I asked her what she thought. She said it is one of those things you either want to throw at the wall or continue trying to solve the darn thing. I think we should go with option two. I had a fun time with it myself when I could wrestle it away from the children. I managed to get up to barrier 29 out of 100. I think I need a lot more practice before this mamma is going to solve Perplexus.
If you haven’t stopped by thenewtoy.com yet I suggest you do. They have some other great products they have featured such as the…well I was going to mention them but I would like you to take a look for yourself. In fact The New Toy is letting me a host a giveaway!
