I’m sure your thinking Sanuk what? Let’s start by getting that out of the way Sanuk is the Thai word for fun. Let me just tell you that this company embodies the word. Yeah I know your buying shoes, I mean not shoes, sandals! So how can a company be fun. Well even if you weren’t planning on purchase a pair of sandals you have to stop by and visit the site if nothing else. Pictures of people with photo heads, yeah you know where you cut the head out and put it on a gorgeous body, to the fun Sanuk News clip.
When I first had some email exchanges with this company their responses made me laugh, a good laugh for their humor and fun way they conduct business. There is nothing better then a good laugh during your probably hectic and busy day.
Hi, we’re Sanük. We’ve been around since July, 1997 when Jeff Kelley started making sandals out of inner tubes and indoor-outdoor carpet. 1998 marked our first full year of operations. While we’ve progressed into semi-proper footwear company (uh-oh), Jeff’s spirit of innovation still serves as the backbone of our little brand. Today, we strive to make products that are as much about funk as they are about function. We’ve found our sandals are happiest when they tread the road less traveled – so we design ‘em accordingly.
Sanuk provides a line of just very fun and unique sandals, surf shoes, beach shoes, and my all time favorite flip flops. However I decided to branch out a little in my very tough decision on what to review for this fun company and I went with a pair of woman’s sidewalk surfers. Sounds pretty favorable to a Florida woman like myself. I specifically chose the Laurel Sidewalk Surfers. They looked like they would go with just about anything and look really good with jeans or shorts.
When my package arrived and I broke into to take a peek of my new
shoes sandals. My first impression was these are lighter and thinner then I thought they were going to be. Glaring me in the face was the logo They’re Not Shoes They’re Sandals. So I’m thinking ok that makes a little more sense. So let’s try these baby’s on and see how they feel. At that time I actually was impressed with the comfort. I thought they were going to be to thin and not enough cushion for my foot but I food them rather comfortable. As I started to walk around in them more I’m realizing, that Hey I live in Florida light shoes are perfect. I hate wearing tennis shoes because my feet get so hot but sometimes I like to cover up my forgot to paint toes. What a perfect solution! Since they are surfer shoes they look great without socks don’t you think?
I could picture myself with one of those poncho like things for beach bums like myself with the front pockets and a hoddie, a pair of jeans or cut off jean shorts and my new Sanuk surfer shoes! Just loving the picture as I’m strolling down the beach or boardwalk. So lovin’ it! I also love that these are slip on shoes. I seriously own maybe two pairs of shoes that you have to tie. Most of my shoes are flip flops, and open toed sandals so these make a very fun and unique addition to my shoe rack!
Sanuk can be found in many surf shops, turns out there is one just down the street from me. However I love to shop from the comfort of my home and can purchase them right from their website. They range in price from about $18-$60 depending on what style you are looking to purchase. They would make a great gift for anyone this Holiday season they are made for men, women, and kids.
Here are just a few customer reviews from their site
Just bought a pair of these from Hawaii last week, and second guessed myself on buying another pair… Well now that we’re back home, I’m buying two more pairs, one in each color in case the ones I have on need a break! From the first time you put these on until you’re walking around everywhere, they are super comfortable and durable. They also look cool because of the chain of islands as well…
These are amazing!! They are very comfortable. They are also very very durable. I’ve worn them when doing full on sprints inside during rainy day practices; no tears or anything!! I love my Sanuks
Yoga Rain Dance
I bought these at the beach and absolutely love them! So comfortable! I feel like I’m walking on a thick, springy sponge! The strap feels secure, but not too tight. They look cute with shorts, capris and sundresses. I think I’ll have to get the black pair too!
I’m so wishing I would have got some flip flops too I may just have to order my own now!!
