This post brought to you by Upromise by Sallie Mae. All opinions are 100% mine.
I had no idea that saving for college could be as easy as shopping online. I do quite a lot of shopping online. Call it being lazy or time saver which ever you prefer but there is something thrilling about getting a great deal on something while sitting in front of your computer in your pajamas (like I'm doing right now). To sign up for Upromise by Sallie Mae was simple. I registered and downloaded a easy to use toolbar that will help me in finding great deals and making sure that I've activated the deal so I will earn my Cash Back.
If I'm browsing the internet and come upon a site that is part of the Upromise network the grey button will turn orange to alert you that you are at a site that will earn you cash back with your purchase.
At this point you will not earn your Upromise cash back unless you click on the gear next to the button and activate the site. Once you do the button will turn green.
This is just one way to find savings. You can also do so by shopping the Upromise by Sallie Mae site itself. Honey and I were shopping for what she told me was a marble game. The game ended up being Mancala. I searched for the product on the site and it gave me quite a list of stores that I could purchase it from as well as the amount of savings I would earn.
I chose one of the sites that had compare now instead of buy now and loved that I could see several options and the savings was spelled out for me right on the screen.
As you can see the bigger the purchase the more money I can save for my child's education. You can save even more using a Upromise credit card.
Upromise is a rewards program where shoppers can earn cash back for college. It is free to join and members have received more than $750 million through Upromise. By simply starting your online shopping at Upromise.com at hundreds of online retail partners such as Target, Apple, Best Buy, Macy’s or Old Navy, families can earn five percent back for college on eligible purchases. If you use the Upromise credit card, you can get 10 percent or more cash back. Money earned through Upromise can be put in a 529 college savings plan, put towards student loans, deposited in a Sallie Mae savings account, or you can get a check.
I love that by doing something I was going to do anyway I can save for my child's future. If you simply download the RewardU Toolbar you will never miss the chance to save again!
