As a blogger what would be kids say is something I do every day? It would have to be taking photos. Thankfully with smartphones we are never without a camera. I have several cameras from my DSLR, point and shoot, and iPhone. All of them have served me well over the last three years. Johnson & Johnson wants to take advantage of your camera by asking you to donate a photo and they will donate to charity.
Donate A Photo
I love this idea of posting “Selfless Selfies”, as they have been coined, to help one over several different organizations that help others. It is really rather simple, let me show you the way! First you most download the Donate a Photo App from Johnson & Johnson. In a matter of minutes you will be on your way to donating. Create a donate a photo account. Then simply use your app to take a photo, or use one from your camera roll. Select the organization you want to donate too and viola you are done. You can also share your photo via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can see many of us sharing our photos via the hashtag #JNJ and #SelflessSelfies.
You can donate one photo a day. When you do Johnson & Johnson will donate $1 to the organization you chose when you uploaded your photo. Each charity has a goal that Johnson & Johnson would like to reach. As each one meets that goal or runs its course a new one is put in it’s place.
Causes Helped
Causes to Help
There are several charities and non-profit organizations that you can select from when donating your photo:
- Help a girl in Libera go back to school : Girl Up
- Help protect children from bullying : PFLAG
- Help in Mexico get to school safely : Safe Kids Worldwide
- Help send a student to Nursing School : Foundation of the National Nurses’ Association
- Help restore a public park : Keep America Beautiful
- Help a newborn thrive : Save the Children
- Help a baby in Bangladesh stay health : Mobile Alliance For Maternal Action
To encourage consumers to live well while doing good, Johnson & Johnson introduced the Donate a Photo app against the backdrop of the quarterly Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies HEALTHY ESSENTIALS™ promotion in April 2013. The HEALTHY ESSENTIALS™ coupon program allows families to stock up on the products they depend on and use every day.
I really love the idea of this campaign and can’t wait to add more photos, it is sometimes hard to wait until the next day. However I want my photos to count! In the mean time though I want to encourage YOU to encourage OTHERS to participate. You can do so by sharing your own Donate a Photo and use the designated twitter handle: @DonateaPhoto and hastags: #JNJ, #SelflessSelfies, and/or #DonateaPhoto
Disclaimer: Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and you can donate a photo to one cause, once a day. Each cause will appear in the app until it reaches its goal, or the donation period ends. If the goal isn’t reached, the cause will still get a minimum donation. You may read more of my disclosure here.
