It is important to start taking care of your skin early. Don’t wait until the damage has been done or try to catch up in the following years. Did you know that the signs of aging usually crop their ugly head in your late 20’s, early 30’s. This doesn’t mean you wait until then to start taking care of your skin. Even as a baby your mom took care of your skin with baby lotion after a bath.

I recently had the opportunity to walk through a RoC Skincare academy and share what I learned with a few friends and family.
The Skincare Aging Process
- Late 20s: Your body is constantly shedding dead skin cells as new cells are formed, and the frequency with which the skin sheds dead cells is already slowing.
- 30s: Oil gland production slows down. Exfoliation becomes crucial to cleanse dead skin cell buildup.
- 40s: Women might start to see freckles become darker, collagen and elastin continue to break down, and facial skin may also sag and appear more tired, so you might consider a stricter anti-aging regimen.
- 50s and beyond: Skin damage over the years, such as sun exposure in the form of age spots, can begin to appear. It’s never too late to start protecting skin – use a minimum SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen on your face and body and reapply at least every two hours.
I was most interested in learning about Retinol since it has become the main ingredient in anti-aging skincare products. I really knew nothing about it. It started with retonic acid. Scientists published the first study proved retinoic acid’s efficacy in treating the signs of aging. However, skin’s low tolerance of retinoic acid led scientists to explore retinol as an effective, less irritating alternative.

As you can see Retinol is the number one dermatologist -recommended cosmetic anti-aging fighting ingredient. In 1995 RoC brand scientists were the first to develop production technology that ensured retinol would not degrade. One thing to remember when trying a new product is patience is a virtue. This means while results will hopefully begin to show sooner rather than later it takes time.
Consistency is key to a successful anti-aging skin care regimen. Use a product consistently for 6-12 weeks to see that benefit. The RoC® Brand recently conducted a one-year clinical study, which proved that users can expect to see additional improvement with longer use. The study showed that improvements increased over each month, with visible improvements even after 52 weeks of consistent use.
I’ve been using the product now for a while and I really love how my skin feels even after one use. I can’t wait to see what it will look like after 6-12 weeks. Hopefully those crows feet will be less visible.

I’m guilty of going all natural with my skin. I have done some skin care product reviews through the years, but I wasn’t raised up with using these skin products so I don’t invest in them. My Mom was a loyal Olay user. I can remember watching her treat her face everyday twice a day.
This was an interesting post for me.

Aww man, I feel like I JUST learned how to take care of my skin and you’re telling me I’m only a couple of years away from aging beginning? Bummer. My must-have is my philosophy “eye believe” eye cream but I’ve heard great things about RoC products!

I probably need to take a little better care of my skin now that I’m in my 40’s. I haven’t tried the RoC products yet.

It’s so true. You need to start taking care of your skin when you’re young so you can stay looking young.

Sadly, I didn’t take very good care of my skin when I was younger… so heed my warning — it is very important to take care of your skin when you are young! I’m a good example of why you should. 🙂

I could not live without my moisturizer or cleansing brush. I’m in my early 30s and never knew exfoliation is key. I definitely need to get on that more!

The RoC® RETINOL CORREXION® Eye Cream sounds great and probably what I need the most. Right now I’m more concerned with keeping my skin protected from the sun, developing lines around my eyes and preventing under eye dark circles! The history of retinoic acid and retinol is interesting!
