I’m always on the look out for fun family friendly games for the kids and I to play. It is not always easy finding a game that all 3 children enjoy, and even harder finding a game Honey can participate in. One thing we all have in common is we love the Wii. The Wii has some great games that are fun for the entire family. One of our favorites is bowling. Honey can even manage a strike or two once in a while.

We received our game in the mail pretty quick and couldn’t wait to give it a try. We popped it into the Wii and my oldest son took over the controls. Yes he is a control freak, always has to be the first player the one that operates the game. We all got to make profiles for ourselves. We were able to select from some skin tones, hair dos, and clothing. Then we jumped in to play. The thinkSmart Wii Family is one of the only Wii games I know of that can have up to 16 players.
The first mode we decided to play in was the Tournament mode. I believe this is my favorite mode, maybe it is because I’m a huge Jeopardy fan. This is a Jeopardy style game where you compete against each other, selecting squares on a board for points in several categories. Once you have selected your question you get a chance to answer it. If you fail to answer it correctly one person gets a chance to steal the points. If you fail points are deducted if you win you receive the amount of points for that question.
So you may be wondering what type of questions are you answering? There is a variety of questions that all revolve around puzzle, riddles, and brain teasers. I don’t know about you but I love mind puzzles, they keep me on my toes. The categories are language, math, visual, perception, memory, and logic. Some of the puzzles you will find is remembering how to spell a word, following a quick sequence of math operations and coming up with the correct answer, mirror images, sudoku, and more.
There are few other modes as well: Race, Endurance and Physical Exercise.
Race: Teams compete against each other or against Dr. Paula Ashoka (the Wi) and must complete all the exercises (puzzles) correctly and as quicky as possible.
Endurance: You must complete as many consecutive exercises (puzzles) as possible without making any errors.
Physical Exercises: The Institute’s philosophy is that both mind and body should be trained to create a harmonious whole. Therefore, besides the mental exercises, there are six different physical exercises created to keep the members of the Institute fit.
One of the cool features of the thinkSmart Wii Family is the profile screens and the information it records for you. You can always see your THINK quotient score, high score, and trophies earned. I love keeping track of how well I do. The THINK quotient test requires you to consecutively complete all 18 exercises offered at the Institute. The THINK quotient represents your current level of proficiency in all the categories.
The thinkSmart games comes in not only the Wii platform but it is for Nintendo DS as well. You can find thinkSmart games at many major retailers such as Gamestop, Amazon, and Toys R Us.
