As parents we have to teach our children so many things, how to use the potty, good manners, good behavior, and how to be respectful. One of the hardest things I find to teach your child is how to tie their shoes. Who would have thought something so little would be so hard to teach. Trying to get them to understand how to hold and lop the laces is just so frustrating.
Honey decided a few months ago she wanted to learn how to tie her shoes. She can do it a little with my help she just can’t figure out how to hold and loop at the same time. So when I had the chance to review the “Tie Buddies” I thought what a perfect item to give to Honey to help her with your shoelaces.
Tie Buddies are easy to use. Simply place on children’s shoelaces and eliminate the loops. This allows children to easily complete the tying process while at school or away from parents until they get the practice enough to tie on their own. The Tie Buddies make it easier for little fingers by providing a pull-tab and the characters allow the child to remember their story which guides them through the steps to tying.
Tie Buddies come in blue and pink for both girls and boys. Once your child starts to get the hang of it, remove one Tie Buddy so they so they can practice holding a lace on their won. Soon enough, you’ll remove the other and your child will be a shoe-tying whiz!
Honey was very excited when her Tie Buddies arrived in the mail. She looked at me quizzically and asked me what they were. When I explained what they were for her eyes got very big. Honey is definitely an independent little girl and has been getting frustrated with not being able to tie her shoes on her own. When we went to choose a pair of shoes for her to use them on I realized that not only does she only have ONE pair of shoes with laces, but that the shoes are now too small for her. Never fear we put the Tie Buddies on the shoes anyway so she could practice. They will match very nicely with her new shoes she will be getting for her birthday.
I took one shoe and she took the other and we worked together on learning how to tie the shoe, she was shocked and excited the first time she was able to tie it herself. I believe with some more practice she will eventually get it. The Tie Buddy is great for helping your child build the confidence needed to keep on trying until they get it.
Tie Buddies was born in January 2007 by a mother of two. Inspired by both her daughter’s excitement and their increased feelings of independence as they quickly learned to tie their own shoes she spent months fiddling with prototypes and ideas until finally perfecting Tie Buddy.
Tie Buddies retail for 8.99 for a set of four which is enough for one pair of shoes. You can purchase Tie Buddies directly from their site www.tiebuddies.com
