Decorating your home for the holidays is fun. It adds a renewed energy to the space. Plus, the decorations are a constant reminder that the holidays are near. And while every room in your home deserves at least some attention, the most used rooms should have your focus. This includes the living room, family room, kitchen and dining room, and the bathroom.
You may think decorating the bathroom is not important but consider the fact that this room is used by family as well as guests. A few updates and a bit of holiday-themed décor will be appreciated by all.
Simple Bathroom Updates
Many people put off or overlook bathroom updates because the task seems overwhelming. After all, replacing fixtures like the sink and vanity and the bathtub is a lot of work and it can be very expensive. However, there are lots of inexpensive and do-it-yourself projects that can give your bathroom a fresh and holiday-ready appearance.
When it comes to decorating you should always start with the basics. Begin by cleaning the bathroom and removing any clutter. This gives you a clean palette to work with. If you have the time and desire you may want to add a fresh coat of paint. This is one of the cheapest ways to make a major change in any room.
Because most bathtubs, toilets and sinks are white, a darker wall color can add a nice contrast. Incorporating white into the color scheme results in a cohesive look. This is an easy way to create a pleasing and pulled together look. Other simple touches that make a big impact include handles and knobs on vanities and cabinets. These can be replaced to match a new color scheme or design element.
Bathroom accessory items, like a ruffled shower curtain, soap dishes, and toothbrush holders should not only be functional, they should also be color coordinated. This is another quick and easy way to update a bathroom without spending a lot of money.
To add a touch of seasonal cheer you should consider purchasing useful items that are holiday-themed. This can include everything from towels and rugs to tissues packaged in a holiday-themed box and soaps in holiday colors and shapes. A simple but chic way to add a holiday decoration is to include a red or green candle with a holiday bow tied around it. A small tray containing pine cones and holly twigs can also be a great way to bring holiday cheer into the bathroom.
Just a few touches can change a dull bathroom into one that is cheerful and holiday-ready. Get creative and have fun decorating your home. The freshened appearance of your home will inspire you to do even more decorating as time goes on.

I never decorate the bathroom for the Holidays. I do not know why? Maybe because it can get expensive. I would like to get a Holiday soap dish and soap dispenser, and a Holiday rug to put in my bathroom and some holiday towels. You gave me some ideas! Thanks!

I’m looking forward to decorating this year! I haven’t started yet, but I plan to do something pretty in my downstairs bathroom. It’s already a sage green color, so I want to add a swag over the mirror, get some pretty towels and white candles. Thank you for posting this.

I totally agree with you that-” just a few touches can change a dull bathroom into one that is cheerful and holiday ready”. I LOVE shopping for new holiday linens and such, especially for the bathroom and kitchen. It makes me happy to have those little, extra, festive additions! Thanks for a great blog. Happy Holidays!
