This is the first year here at Shibley Smiles where no one is trick-or-treating. My daughter is still a little young to stop, but she has expressed over the years it just isn’t as fun when she doesn’t have anyone to go with. My boys have never had to trick-or-treat by themselves, for the most part. I did take my youngest son one year before my second son was born but after that it was always the two of them. Then when my oldest son stopped going my youngest son would go with my daughter. My youngest son stopped trick-or-treating when he got into high school 4 years ago so it has just been my husband, myself, and my daughter these past years.
Of course times have changed but being safe has not. When I went trick-or-treating for the first time without my parents I had the unfortunate fate of having my Halloween bag stolen by older kids. Hopefully your child doesn’t experience such a Halloween prank. The best thing you can do as a parent is talk to them about these trick-or-treating safety tips.
