Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, as it is for so many. In addition to the family gatherings and what seems like extra kindness from strangers I love decorating. Ok I don’t actually enjoy pulling out the decorations and spending hours de-tangling lights only to find out that half of them don’t work. I do enjoy the end result a festive Christmas home with the scent of pine (thanks to the glade sense-o-spray in pine) lingering in the air. The joy of seeing the presents stacking up under the tree knowing the children are going to be so excited Christmas morning.
This Christmas has two special aspects that are different then years before. One, we changed what use to be our family room and held our Christmas tree into a work out room. This means we had to find a new place for our Christmas tree and for many of our decorations. Second for the first time my family is coming to our home for Christmas. I’m very excited about this and really want to decorate the house nicely with some new decorations.
Honey and I took a trip to Kmart because they were having a great sale with almost everything on sale! Before I decided what I wanted to purchase Honey and I looked through all they had. When I came across these snowmen I literally laughed out loud and snapped a photo to send to my son (for privacy reasons at his request I’m not telling you which son it is). I bought the same snowmen a couple years ago during an after Christmas sale because I love snowmen. Turns out my son finds snowmen with legs to be freaky. After a year of dealing with them greeting him at the door he accidentally threw a football at them breaking them in two. He was willing to take the heat if it meant getting rid of the freaky snowmen. I decided to pretend it was an accident. Do they look freaky to you?
I considered my son’s feelings and decided against replacing my snowmen, however I did purchase some door greeters in their place. In fact Honey and I had a great time with each other looking at all the cute decorations and fun toys. We found this hate that had us almost rolling on the floor (except who wants to roll on Kmart’s floor? Not I!).
I’m excited to add some new decorations to my collection. We have some great places to decorate in our home. Here is a sneak peek of the bare spots we are going to make festive and fun!

That would have been SO wrong if you’d bought the snowmen. Good call on avoiding that purchase. You did pick cute stuff though!

Yeah I agree. it is not just a family funny story but I wouldn’t buy them again. He was totally ok with the elves and Santa though. He just said snowmen are NOT SUPPOSE to have legs, and they look freaky!

I love Kmart’s display this year. It was one of the few places I could find things for my theme since I went all out for my town’s parade of homes that I was a part of. I did not get the snowmen pictured, but I did get quite a few of the snowmen decorations, and they were a huge hit last weekend!

It looks like you got some really fun stuff for your home. I had to laugh when I saw the hat your daughter had on. I tried on one just like it, except a different color. It was definitely one of the funniest hats I’ve seen! Thanks for sharing your decor with us. Have fun decorating.

Cute story. I’ve heard some kids and grownups too are getting freaked out about “The Elf on the Shelf” who watches you all the time. Some things are just a little weird at Christmas to some folks, but I think it’s all meant to be jolly and ho ho ho.

I’ve never seen snowmen with legs before, they are a little freaky. 🙂 My hubby has that same hat and yes, it does get a little annoying after a while.

Those are some cute finds. I agree that the musical hat would get annoying. My parents have a few musical Christmas items and the kids will play them over and over again. I want to “accidentally” throw a football at them at times. lol

Nice finds! I can’t wait until I have more space and can have a Christmas tree and more decorations, for XMas 2012 probably! 🙂

I love Kmart, and I miss Kmart. We had one of the largest Kmart’s in Southern California, and they shut it down after Walmart came in. I really do miss Kmart–I hate being forced to do most of my shopping at Walmart.

I think the snowmen are cute, not freaky.
