FULL REVIEW
Week by week, and after photos you can see all post here: https://www.shibleysmiles.com/tag/ultimate-reset
Note: I wanted to be sure to point out that the Ultimate Reset program is not considered a weight loss program but a cleansing program. The weight loss can sometimes be a side effect.
Now that I have officially finished the 3 week program the Ultimate Reset by Beachbody I thought it would be good to share my thoughts and feelings about the program as a whole. If you missed any of my previous post you can check out my day by day thoughts here: Ultimate Reset Review.
Many of you already know I ended the program a few days early due to my lack of eating enough because I just couldn’t eat the foods on the plan in the amounts that are required so I felt I wasn’t getting enough in my body for proper nutrition, even with the supplements.
Here are my list of Pro’s and Con’s
Pro’s Ultimate Reset :
- Weight Loss
- Improved Skin (definitely cleared up)
- Improved Hair (became less oily)
- Evening of energy levels
- Appreciation of preparing and cooking food
- Better digestive health
Con’s Ultimate Reset:
- The lack of variety in food groups
- Often hungry
- Time to prepare meals
- Unappetizing drinks (alkalinize and detox)
- Can not work out
Expectation: What I had expected to get out of this was very high energy (better then average) and really good sleep, in addition I was hoping and yes expecting weight loss.
Energy Levels: What I got in terms of the above was an evening of energy levels. What I mean is I didn’t ever feel like I had tons of energy, or had more then I knew what to do with it but I felt more rested, even keel, and calm. I didn’t have spikes of energy and lows of non-energy I just felt like I had what I needed.
Sleep: I did for a few days experience nights of really good sleep but after that it seemed my normal pattern in which I wake up frequently at night.
Weight Loss: As you will see below I did loss a nice amount of weight. I do think some of this is possibly due to not eating enough but overall I think the program does help you shed pounds.
Lessons Learned: I learned a lot about food and preparation. Things I will take with me. Did you know there was a study done regarding a microwave and broccoli. It showed that by using the microwave the broccoli lost 97% of it’s nutritional value. Through the program the microwave is discouraged. Sometimes though it is necessary (like at work). However due to this knowledge I have started using other methods of cooking when I can. I know steam my vegetables on the stove instead of using the microwave steam bags.
Natural/Organic Foods: This program does encourage organic foods. Though it is not necessary the reasoning makes sense. The first week if you remember I did all organic (and it was expensive). After that I did half and half at my local Publix. What I did fine was some foods that I LOVED when shopping at Whole Foods like this yummy salsa. I also found that I prefer to cook my rice using bulk purchased grains versus instant or boxed rice. So I think I will be making a monthly trip to Whole Foods.
Recipes: I found that for the most part I did not enjoy the recipes. Many of the flavors and spices used I just didn’t care for. I tried the majority of them and just got to a point where I couldn’t stomach the food. I did fine a few that I enjoyed like curry cauliflower, and some beans and rice recipes that I am taking with me to continue to use.
So overall I didn’t get what I initially thought I would get out of the program, it was expensive for the fact that for me it became more of a weight loss program, and it was extremely tough. Would I do it again? I’m going to say No. I don’t think after going through what seemed like the longest 3 weeks of my life that I could do it again now knowing what to expect. I’m I glad I did it? Yes because I learned some things that I think are important and changed my mind set and it has really motivated me to continue on the weight loss journey.
So here are my beginning and final results:

There’s a definite difference, but I know you hated this so I’m glad it’s over!
Colleen says
Thanks I am SOO glad. I mean I’m glad I did it, it has helped in the weight loss department and I’m really focused now but I’m SOOO glad to not have the restrictions anymore.
Jenn @therebelchick says
I am sorry that the program didn’t help you with sleep like you’d hoped it would. Have you tried melatonin? I have been taking 3 mg each night before bed for a few years and it has totally cured my insomnia 🙂 it’s just a natural supplement and you can get it at grocery stores!
Colleen says
Really my only sleep issue (besides occasional sleep paralysis) is I’m a light sleeper so everything wakes me up and I toss. I’m actually hoping to solve that with a Sleep Number bed it is being delivered Saturday I’m so excited!
Becca @ Mama B says
You look amazing!!! Great job!
Anne - Mommy Has to Work says

Congratulations on the weight loss Colleen. The Ultimate Reset (www.ultimatereset.com/jfit4life) is definitely a challenging program and takes a lot of dedication – you did GREAT and you should be VERY proud of your results.
As far as the program lacking in calories goes, it’s meant to be a cleanse and certainly not a starvation diet so I am sorry that you experienced what you did. It’s an integrated, whole-body reset solution. With that said, in the book that you get with your Reset it says that it’s ok to add a little more food if you think you are in need of a little something extra to eat. It only suggests that you stay in line with the phase you’re in. For example, in the Release Phase (Week 2), there’s no meat or dairy allowed. So if you need more food, it’s recommended that you only add more fruits, vegetables, or whole grains.
At the end of the day, I think one of the greatest parts about the Reset is that you not only help return your metabolism to optimal function, but you learn conscious self-care behaviors that can help you maintain better health, even after your Reset (which is what you mentioned in your review).
Thanks again for your honest review of the product. Best of luck to you in your journey!
Jaime

You look great! Well at least you lost some weight. I agree that the alkalinize was absolutely horrendous. The detox wasn’t too bad for me.

Wow, you can really see a difference before and after. I do agree with you though if the meals don’t taste as well as you hoped and they take a lot of time, it’s hard to continue.

Thank you for doing this review. I have never heard of it, but I don’t think I would have been able to stick with it either without a variety of foods.
deborahc says
Has the weight stayed off? That is always my barrier to improved health….I regain weight loss in a few months.
Colleen says
I wish I could say it has but I just never got onto another plan. This is always my problem. I have so little time that I don’t have the time to prepare meals/menus for the week and I think I can just eat this or that and then I don’t.
deborahc says
Thanks for your honesty! If we keep trying and don’t give up, we will be better in the long run than someone who gives up and continues to gain. My daughter has done this, and I fear she will not outlive me.
Michelle F. says
Great pictures. Congratulations

Thank you for taking time to thoroughly review the Ultimate Reset. I have been searching the web for some “real” reviews of this program. Before I buy such an expensive program, I want to know how well it works for “real” people who are trying to fit the program into their normal lives. Your comments are extremely helpful!
Colleen says
Thank you that was my very purpose of posting. I too had a hard time finding a “real” review too.
chris says
I started this next week and was glad to find your review, as opposed to reviews from people selling the product. Thank you so much.
Colleen says
I would love for you to update me on how you do and what you think. This is exactly the reason why I posted the review for a little “true” insight.
Dee says
Definitely tell a difference in your before and after pictures. Great job! I have been researching this product, and have found no honest reviews so thank you. Have a girlfriend doing beachbody/shakeology. She is now a “coach”. It sounded like a pyramid which had really turned me off. How did you find out about the program?
Colleen says
I actually saw a fellow blogger doing it. I too tried to do research and had a hard time finding an unbiased opinion. I’m glad you found me it was the reason I decided to write about it.
Lindsey says
Thank you for your review Colleen! I am starting the reset next week, and like getting a lot of different opinions. Being a Beachbody coach myself, most of the opinions are from other coaches, and it may be more skewed to the positive. I struggle with eating on plan 100% so I worry about it. Your candid blog posts are very helpful! Fortunately I have a lot of the staple products so the pocketbook dent won’t be so bad. I did buy the reset when it was $30 off this last December., so that was a help! I’ve been saving it for after my current program ends, since you can’t workout. I worry about losing my muscle itty muscle definition, but so far I’ve heard it won’t happen.
I did want to point out to Dee that pyramid schemes involve earning money based on the amount of people you enroll under you without an exchange of product. You don’t earn money from enrolling coaches, only from selling products to customers, and then team bonuses as your coaches under you sell products to customers. Kinda like Mary Kay, or any other sales-commission-based company. I signed up as a coach to get a discount on the Shakeology, and have since ordered Insanity and the Reset at the discount. I’ve lost 15 lbs. already. I hope to shed a few more on the reset and get rid of my coffee addiction! So far, I’ve been happy with the interaction with the other coaches. They seem to value your health and success more than the sale. It definitely matters most to find what works best for you and what you can stick with in your lifestyle. Sorry for going on and on!
I bookmarked your blog Colleen, I love it! I look forward to hearing more about your journey.
Laura Corwin says
Thank you for all this information, sweetie! Very informative & you did great!! I plan to try this for the first time in April.
English Arnold says
Thank you for your honest insight to the reset. Several of my friends and I are considering this and your feedback is extremely helpfu.
Tracy says
I came across your blog while researching the Ultimate Reset, and was wondering how hard it was for you to transition out of it? How was it when you tried to eat other foods after?
Colleen says
I actually did not have any problems. I don’t normally have problems I think I have a touch stomach.
