Post Written by Guest Blogger: LeeAnn: The Life of Rylie…and Bryce too!
I have learned in a very short period of time that boys are definitely different than girls. They're rough and tough, and my son is no exception. Their taste in toys is different too. While Bryce has no problem sitting and playing dolls with Rylie, his most favorite toys are action figures, cars and dinosaurs. He stages fights between the different action figures, races cars on the numerous race tracks he has, and runs around the house scaring us with his dinosaurs. VTech, a leader in electronic learning toys, has recently introduced the ultimate toy for boys – Switch & Go Dinos. These interactive dinosaurs morph into vehicles and back again to provide an awesome play experience. They are two great toys in one!
Each Switch & Go Dino features electronic elements that bring the toys to life, which allows boys to learn while they play. When in dinosaur mode, the action buttons trigger interesting facts about that dinosaur, which are expressed in the dinosaur's "voice". When in vehicle mode, the sound effects will make your child think they are in a real race! We recently received two of the Switch & Go Dinos for review – Horns the Triceratops and Sliver the T-Rex. They both start out as super cool looking race cars, and then easily transform into ferocious dinosaurs.
We first opened the box before dinner one night, and Bryce was beyond excited to see what was inside. Big mistake. He wanted nothing to do with dinner after seeing his new toys. He scarfed down his dinner and then disappeared. When I walked out into the other room to see what he was up to, he had climbed up on the table (in true boy fashion), got the box down, and was trying to pry the Dinos from the packaging. He was ready to play! Ever since I can remember, Bryce has always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together again. He is good at puzzles, and always seems to have the patience to figure things out. Needless to say, he quickly figured out how to change the vehicles into dinosaurs and then back again. He had a great time "fighting his dinosaurs"…
…and then more fun was had racing the cars around the family room.
He wasn't the only one who thought the Switch & Go Dinos were super cool. I was immediately captivated by these interactive toys. There are so many fun features that make these more than just an ordinary toy. There is an interactive LCD screen which shows a race car driver when in vehicle mode, and animated eyes when in dinosaur mode, both of which your child can select from several different options. When in vehicle mode, you can press a button to hear different exclamations like "Let's hit the road!" and "Come on, let's roll!". When the vehicles morph into dinosaurs, your child will learn fun facts about that particular dinosaur through phrases like "My jaw can bite through a car roof" and "I have a sharp beak that cuts the plants I like to eat". I love that Bryce is learning while he plays. The sound effects and dinosaur voices are awesome! There are three different volume levels, and even on the lowest level, the sounds are easily heard. Check out this short video of Bryce interacting with his Switch & Go Dinos, and make sure you listen to T-Rex when he morphs from the cool green race car…
As you can see, Bryce likes to play rough with his toys. I am happy to report that the Switch & Go Dinos can withstand the car crashes and dinosaur attacks that Bryce has inflicted on them. He has played with them several times over the past week, and they still look brand new. The Switch & Go Dinos are easily transformed from vehicle to dino, and then back again. There are only a few steps needed to make the switch, and the parts that move are big enough for even tiny hands like Bryce's. He can switch the T-Rex easily from vehicle to dino, and has almost gotten the hang of switching the Triceratops. They both keep Bryce's attention, and he doesn't get frustrated when trying to switch them.
I highly recommend the Switch & Go Dinos for all of the rough and tough boys in your life! You can Buy today on Amazon the four starter Dinos: Sliver the T-Rex, T-Don the Pteranodon, Tonn the Stegosaurus and Horns the Triceratops for a suggested retail price of $15.99. Beginning June 18, they will be on sale at VTechKids.com for the same price. I think this is a great price point for these awesome toys! You can essentially purchase two toys boys love for the price of one! All Switch & Go Dinos will be on-shelf at major retailers beginning in Fall 2012. We will definitely be getting more, and now I know what to get Bryce's friends who have birthdays coming up! Do you have a special boy in your life who would love the Switch & Go Dinos? Which one do you think would be their favorite?

Jake was never into cars, but he loved action figures. We spent so much money on those it’s ridiculous. And now they sit in his closet. I always loved convertible toys like these.
