I mentioned WOW almost 4 weeks ago about my selection as a Walkabout Ambassador. I took a pledge to walk every day for 28 days and update you throughout my journey. Many of my updates have been through Facebook and Twitter, and others were found inside a blog post about how I managed to get in my walking.
I learned a few things after reflecting on this journey. Some things are obvious and may not be something I learned but something that maybe I forgot. Exercise makes your muscles and body feel better all around. Any exercise makes me feel alive and ready to take on the world, it baffles me why we always have to struggle to do it when it makes us feel so good.
What I learned however was that it is very hard for me to make a commitment of my time on a daily basis. I found myself stressed and often walking at 10:30 at night to get in my walk as I had committed to doing. This would make it a little hard for me to get to sleep. While exercise is an important part of our daily lives I do better with less structure and more just fit it in when I can which is often not every day.
I know it is all about our priorities but right now my priorities are where they are for personal reasons. With three children and two of them in sports my evenings are often packed with practices, games, dinner, homework and before you know it is time for bed. That is bed for everyone else. I still have obligations to meet and often it is midnight before I get into bed. A late night does not make an early morning.
I did realize through this commitment however that I do need to scale back on my obligations so that I can make walking and exercising a higher priority then where it currently is. I enjoyed being part of the program and look forward to taking what I learned and making some changes in the future.
On a side note I absolutely LOVED my Rhythm Walker shoes from Dr. Weil’s. I’m hoping to post a more official review soon because I would love for you to hear my thoughts.
How do you fit in exercise? What works better for you morning or evening? What type of exercise do you prefer
