I thought this was a very relevant question considering the hype around the book right now and wondered what you thought? I’m reading the books right now myself and my oldest son, who is 14, told me at their school in reading if the kids read the book they were able to go on a field trip to see the movie.
What are your thoughts on age limits for this series of books?
Rhiannon Rowland says
I really think it depends on the child. My oldest son would have been fine reading The Hunger Games at a younger age than my youngest child. I would probably have let me oldest read it when he was in 4th grade, my youngest has still not read it yet and he is now in 6th, so as far as I am concerned he can read it any time now. I am not really worried about what they read, my boys are pretty level headed and they know that they are just reading a story. I do think that the movie has a lot less gore that the books, but I also think that things seem more real on a movie screen than in a book.

I agree, I think it depends. The book is pretty violent, and some kids are more sensitive to that than others.
Jo-Ann Brightman says
I find it hard to judge without knowing the child , but I would probably not want anyone who is under the age of 10 to read or see it
Tammy S says
I think that this series is for a little older kids. I read the book and saw the movie with my daughter, who is almost 16 years old. I don’t think I would have let her see the movie when she was 13 years old. I don’t think she was mature enough at that age.
