There was a conversation at work the other day that had me pondering this question. I know that some people store it in the refrigerator and others in the pantry.
We keep ours in the pantry despite the fact that the bottle states “best if refrigerated after opening” (on my Heinz bottle).
Why? Refrigerating ketchup will keep the flavor at its peak, or so they say. Unrefrigerated ketchup is totally safe to eat but, air will dilute the flavor after several weeks.
A 64 oz of ketchup last about a week in our home so trust me the flavor is not going to peak that quickly.
Where do you store your ketchup?
