Last year I made a decision to start teaching my daughter to wake up on school mornings using an alarm clock instead of my sweet voice. PARENTING FAIL ahead! After one year I have not succeeded, she even has one of thoselike the boys. However she complained that the noise was terribly loud and frightening and the vibration did nothing to get her sleepy head up. So I went back to waking her up myself.
Sometimes however, I get side tracked getting ready and lose track of time and than find myself trying to get her out of bed, fed, dressed and ready for school as quick as possible. Let’s just say this doesn’t often work. My daughter needs her own time to wake up and get moving, so rushing things does nothing but put us both in a grumpy mood. Not the best way to start the day.
I recently had the chance to review a clock from Zazoo Kids. This alarm clock’s target audience is children. The alarm clock is a digital picture frame with some added features.
Honey herself took the clock out of the box, set it up, set the time, and played with the features before I even sat down to peek at the instructions. That is definitely an A+ when it comes to a product for children. If they can use it without the help of their parents that is definitely a plus. She was unable to set the alarms herself but she was able to change her picture, set the time, and listen and choose the music she wants to hear when her alarm goes off in the morning. With a little help from me we were able to customize her photos more by putting a collection of her favorite photos on a flash drive and then plugging that into the clock.
There are a variety of clocks to chose from depending on your child’s sense of style. Honey is really into peace symbols or anything black and ink. For that reason I chose for her the Pink Peace Alarm clock.
After playing with this clock some myself I can see how it is a great tool for young children, yet with the remote control and added image features grows with your child as they get older. Honey is past the younger stage but I had to share the idea because I think it is unique and great for parents of young children that like to wake up just wee bit early. With the use of the morning and night time images parents can set the images to change at a certain time. For example if you want your child to remain in bed until 7 am and not rise before you would set the morning image to switch at 7 am. This way if your child rolls over and looks at the lock at 5:30 am they will see the “night time” photo and know it is not yet time to get up.
For Young Children and Big Kids Too
The ZAZOO photo clockTM is the contemporary multi-functional answer for your early riser. For young children who wake too early or do not stay in bed all night, this is the solution for you. The multi-media features ensure the clock will grow with your child for years and years of use. The alarm clock, rotating digital photo frame, music & audio book capabilities make this all-in-one a sure bet!
Easy to Use
The ZAZOO photo clock is easy to read. When the photo alarm “goes off” the image changes. The digital time is also displayed on the face of the photo clock. Your child will quickly be able to associate the image changing to “awake time” or “rest time”. A second naptime photo alarm setting makes programming for quiet time simple. The audio alarm can be set to use along with the clock time only display options.
Photo Alarm Images
The clock comes with pre-programmed images of “awake” and “asleep” photo options that help your child know when it is the appropriate time to stay in bed or get up and start the day.The simple images “come up” when the parent programs them to do so.You can easily personalize the awake and asleep images so your own child is the star. Kids will love to see themselves in pictures on their photo clock.
Honey loves having her own alarm clock that she can customize to her own liking. She also loves the little remote control that makes navigating the clock much easier than using the buttons on the back. Honey loves almost anything that she has control over herself. Being able to pick her own music and photos definitely gave her a sense of “this is mine” which makes her enjoy it even more. The clock is a great addition to her room and I will admit we have not yet really tried out the alarm setting. However I love the whole idea of this clock and how it was created to be more than just an alarm clock for young children.
By incorporating the use of your own photos, adding music, and there is even a video feature Zazoo kids have made a product that will grow with your child. Note: You can even download personalized photos with your child’s name right from the Zazoo website. I love the photo Honey has chosen to greet here each morning when she opens up those blue green eyes!
